The Information Technology Support Centre (CIP) was established in order to assess the education and administration IT needs of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering.
The CIP provides maintenance and upgrading of IT network, web services, multimedia content, computers in classrooms and other IT equipment. Furthermore, the CIP manages the construction of joint IT resources, safe data storage for accounting and administrative staff of the Faculty and purchases new IT equipment in line with the needs of users through the process of drawing up technical specifications required for the purchase. Marijan Galjar, is the head of the Information Technology Support Centre.
During 2017, more attention was focused on users and individual computers for teaching staff, so besides the upgrading of the operating system for the needs of administrative staff, Faculty services, all other computers of teaching staff at the Faculty have been affected by the upgrade. Continued improvement of network performance through the deployment of new and more modern active and passive network equipment. Wireless network infrastructure is also developing by expanding the number of access points, which is more robust than existing by the quality of connection and bandwidth (Eduroam). The Headquarters of the Faculty is equipped for the needs of international conferences and meetings with remote multimedia equipment. Participation of CIP staff on projects, providing multimedia support. Since 2017 administration of the ISVU system is within the CIP service. CIP service activities are planned for the next one year period; migration of student mailboxes into Office system 365, merging server infrastructure by building a server room, completing an optical redundancy connection, a centralized network management system, a Actice directory domain in cloud.
