The Information Technology Support Centre (CIP) was established in order to assess the education and administration IT needs of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering. The CIP provides maintenance and upgrading of IT network, web services, multimedia content, computers in classrooms and other IT equipment. Furthermore, the CIP manages the construction of joint IT resources, safe data storage for accounting and administrative staff of the Faculty and purchases new IT equipment in line with the needs of users through the process of drawing up technical specifications required for the purchase. Marijan Galjar, is the head of the Information Technology Support Centre.
In the course of the academic year 2015/2016, Office 365 was introduced as the basis for business communication and the Faculty now uses the Exchange e-mail system. OneDrive for business is used and as a part of the package for collaboration and synchronisation of user documents. The multimedia info-panels have been installed for students in the Faculty’s lobby, providing recent information about study courses, workshops, etc. The Teamviewer software solution provides remote access to all the computers at the Faculty. Furthermore, all the departments of the Faculty are now equipped with the system of automatic synchronisation and storage of critical data. The web page of the Faculty now includes the automatic data takeover system (rest API) from the ISVU system for educational and study programmes.
In mid-2017, major network infrastructure projects were carried out (optics, switches, communication cabinets). At the beginning of 2017, IP fixed telephony was introduced at the entire Faculty operated by CIP. There are improved computer classrooms, particularly the VP03 classroom with new learning tools.
