The mission of the LandSlidePlan project is to reach new knowledge necessary for practical solutions of landslide susceptibility assessment in all types of Croatian environments for production of landslide susceptibility maps that will be used by regional and local administration and decision and policy makers in the processes of land use planning.
The research will be based on innovative technologies, realistic limitations related to availability of spatial data in Croatia (limited amount of geological data) and urgent needs for efficient solutions applicable in Croatian system of physical planning in line with European and global requirements related to sustainable development, human and environmental protection.
The scientific and practical objective of the research is development of methodology for landslide susceptibility assessment using LiDAR technology and the most reliable modelling approaches for characteristic Croatian environments and sliding phenomena.
There are three specific objectives of the proposed LandSlidePlan project:
SO1-Land – to create the best optimal digital model of the bare-earth terrain that shows realistic landslide footprints and differences between disturbed and undisturbed land that may influence land use;
SO2-Slide – to create the most reliable landslide susceptibility map with best differentiation of landslide prone and landslide free areas using scientific method customised to specific engineering geological conditions of Croatian environments with sliding threats;
SO3-Plan – to create maps depicting information about landslides tailored according to needs of the system of physical planning in Croatia (particularly land use planning), encompassing local and regional level under, harmonized at the national level.
