Aquifers represent the main source of potable water inAquifers represent the main source of potable water inmost parts of the world. Over the last decades, due toanthropogenic influence, groundwater quality has beendegraded, while the quantity has become very limited insome areas. To enable sustainable management ofgroundwater resources, i.e., aquifers, the development ofnew methods and detailed hydrogeology research arerequired. New knowledge must identify the mainenvironmental problems caused by human influence andpropose measures whose implementation will improve thecondition of the aquifers. Research related to thegroundwater dynamics, groundwater–surface waterinteraction, groundwater origin, hydrogeochemistry, thedifference between natural and humanly conditionedconcentrations, soil and groundwater contamination, establishment of groundwater monitoring, and use ofgeostatistical methods can give new insights that wouldenable mitigation of the most pressing environmentalproblems. The scope of the Special Issue is related to the creation andimplementation of methods in groundwater research thatlook at environmental issues from different perspectives toenable sustainable groundwater resources management.
