Quality management system - HRN EN ISO 9001

The quality management system, in accordance with the HRN EN ISO 9001 requirement, has been in effect at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering since 2007 for administrative services (related to academic education, scientific research work and industry collaboration as well as the management of the Faculty).

The Quality Manual of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering is the document outlining the proper procedures related to the realization of administrative services.
During 2017, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) certification agency conducted an external recertification audit of the quality management system and the Faculty obtained a new certificate which will last until 2019. By the recertification audit, the Faculty completely transferred to the HRN EN ISO 9001:20015 norm, which is still based on the process approach but also introduces some new features such as mandatory risk assessment at all quality management system levels. In accordance with that, the quality management system forms have been revised and the detailed risk assessment analysis conducted in all divisions covered by the quality management system. Aside from all adjustments to the new norm, the quality policy has been altered, the quality manual changed and a number of new documents designed to implement the quality management system faster into educational processes taking place at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering.
Starting points for the improvement of the Faculty's quality management system are framed by the exisiting legislation and other relevant documents, primarily the following:

  • Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the Euro-pean higher education area from 2005
  • Law on quality assurance in science and higher education (NN 45/09)
  • Policy on the quality assurance system of University of Zagreb from 2012.

 

Commission for quality management and quality management team, along with the representative of the Directorate for quality, represent the bodies in charge with continuous implementation, improvement, adaptation and administration of quality management system of the Faculty. Through both the internal and the external audits, as well as the regular annual quality assurance system control in the area of administrative service provision at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering, the status of quality assurance system at the Faculty is determined and room for possible improvement is identified. Also, various actions are taken to improve quality in accordance with the demands of the international HRN EN ISO 9001:2015 norm. The existing quality management system is well established and documented. The documents are available on the Faculty's website.
Satisfaction of the system users regarding administrative services, both internal and external, is monitored via surveys conducted among students and employees (surveys regarding the assesment of pregraduate, graduate and integrated graduate studies as a whole and surveys regarding the quality of teachers’ work). The Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering pays particular attention to the analysis of the surveys’ results with the goal of continuous advancement of the quality management system.
